Case Study: Glassdoor
We had a very tight timeline
to deliver on a short form
video product on Glassdoor.
We went from product concept
to ideation to designs in
just a few short months.
We wanted to deliver an
offering to our community in
just five months after that,
and Mux enabled us to hit that
timeline and to achieve our
product goals very quickly.
So a few things
stood out with Mux.
Number one, the ease
of the integration.
It truly is a one stop shop.
I think if you look at
the SDKs and the level of
documentation that's there,
it's really top notch.
It made for integrating
video and video players
into our Android and
iOS apps dead simple.
Number two, the
quality of the product.
One of the things that stood
out to us was the adaptive
bitrate streaming that
allows us to serve videos
in a performant way, no
matter how speedy a user's
internet connection is.
And that really makes for a
fantastic user experience.
Number three, the cost.
One of the other options that
we looked at was also AWS.
We discovered with AWS, you
actually have to piece a video
solution together yourself.
Video uploading,
management, streaming,
transcoding, Android and
iOS integrations, and of
course content moderation.
When you look at the total
cost of ownership, AWS is
not necessarily the cheaper
solution because you have
to have teams and people
monitoring those pipelines and
also evolving that solution
as the streaming landscape
changes. Number four, the
fantastic level of support
that we got we had engineers
with us in, in a shared Slack
channel helping us integrate.
You know, really they were
kind of there just for
emotional support because the
documentation was so good.
But when we did encounter
a small problem, they were
right there with us helping
things along the way.
And number five, the trusted
partnerships that Mux has
for things like moderation.
One of the things that I think
differentiates the Glassdoor
community is the quality of
the content and the distinct
lack of toxic content.
And Mux allowed us to
seamlessly integrate with
other trusted vendors in
the moderation space so
that we could maintain a
high quality bar for video
content on our platform.
I think it's one thing
to read about things like
career pivots and burnout
and salary negotiation
and things like that.
But it's a completely
different thing to see
and hear it on video.
And that's really the extra
dimension of authenticity
that short form video gave
us within the community.
